Our success is built on three core pillars

Outstanding Teams

One of our top priorities is building the best possible teams that not only meet but consistently exceed client expectations. How do we achieve this? Through knowledge sharing, continuous education, retrospectives, team synergy, and strong collaboration.

Careful partnership

We believe in creating relationships with our clients that are based on true partnership. This means emphasizing open communication and collaboration. Our goal is to bring added value, helping clients make smart, meaningful decisions, and being their trusted partners in everyday decision-making.

Technology

As a technology company with a primary focus on the Microsoft Data Platform, we create customized, intelligent data solutions for our clients using the most appropriate, cutting-edge tools, and proven methods . And, of course, we’re always experimenting with and testing new innovations to push our expertise even further.

Bigger team, deeper know-how, and shared energy

At JC, we all started around a single table. But in recent years, that’s changed. We've grown and matured. To mark our 10th anniversary, we treated ourselves to an epic party and opened a new office in Switzerland. We remain committed to continuously improving our craft, while also refining our internal processes, as we plan to grow further.

Beyond business, maintaining our unique company culture is something we care about dearly. So far, we've succeeded thanks to the very passionate people on our team. A "srdcař" is someone who truly lives our values – not just seeing them as empty words on the wall, but as a daily guide for decision-making. Every month, we organize various activities and workshops focused on one of our core values, ensuring we remember them in everything we do.

And what else has growth brought us? We have an even bigger know-how and more experts to brainstorm and exchange ideas with, and draw inspiration from. Parties with more people have something to them as well!

Joy as a foundation

When we founded Joyful Craftsmen, we all had experience from previous companies that did not suit us. We lacked a few key elements – joy in our work, professionalism, and the desire and space to grow, meaning the opportunity to constantly improve ourselves. What motivated us to start JC were two books. The first is Clean Code: A Handbook of Agile Software Craftsmanship by Robert C. Martin, one of the creators of the Agile Manifesto. The second is Joy, Inc.: How We Built a Workplace People Love. Both books focus on craftsmanship and finding joy in work. As a result, our core cultural values are reflected directly in our name.

We are building a modern, smart company that is firmly based on culture, high professionalism, and excellent relationships with our clients.

What's driving us lately? Customer experience

Like any company, we want satisfied clients and to deliver real value. But we don’t want those to be just empty buzzwords. While happy clients are great, as data experts, we know it's even better to understand what that satisfaction actually means for each specific client. That’s why we’ve developed a detailed CX methodology that we use regularly. Our goal is for everyone in the team to see data as a tool for building stronger client relationships. This allows us to spot pain points early and provide solutions before they become problems. We want to be sure our work makes sense and delivers the exact value our clients' businesses need.

Education as a path to growth

Craftsmanship is all about continuous improvement, expanding know-how, and finding smarter ways of doing things. In our previous workplaces, we were frustrated by the lack of active support for employee development. That’s why, from the very beginning, we’ve placed a strong emphasis on education. We believe that the growth of our people strengthens the entire company, allowing us to deliver the best to our clients.

We’ll give you plenty of time and budget for your development. You can attend training sessions, go to conferences, read books, take online courses, or attend lectures. You can basically grow, even during working hours. We’ve developed a detailed growth matrix so you know exactly what you need to become an expert in your field – whether you’re moving from junior to mid-level or to senior. Around each specialization, we’ve introduced "circles," with each circle having its own leader to help guide your development. In regular one-on-one meetings, you can set goals together, deciding which trainings or certifications you should focus your energy and time on.

Watch out! You’ll find great people here

I would emphasize the joy. That's something that applies to anyone, in any role – whether it's the guys from sales or data engineers, it cuts across all positions. We aim to create an environment where people feel comfortable, where they look forward to coming back to work after a weekend or vacation, not just because of the work they do, but also because they want to stick around for a barbecue and maybe bring their partner along.

Justýna Neuhortová, Chief People Officer

A human approach has been key for us from the very beginning

We don’t want to be a cold, impersonal company focused solely on financial results. More than your experience, what matters most to us is how well we’ll connect. How do you know if you’ve got Craftsman blood in your veins? You’re fascinated by BI and the world of data, that’s a given. You probably have an insatiable desire to learn new things, never miss any industry news, and constantly read, excited to discuss the latest news with your colleagues.

Don’t worry if you don’t have much experience yet. Sometimes people hesitate to reach out because they feel they don’t know enough. There’s no need for that! We’re looking for anyone who wants to achieve something, isn’t afraid of teamwork, and is eager to grow. We’re the best team, and for us, the most important thing is the chemistry between us.

In JC, there’s a great team of people you can not only have fun with, but also tackle things openly, even when challenges arise. The people here are not only highly skilled at what they do and driven to keep improving, but they’re also unafraid to share their knowledge, teach others, and thanks to them, I can grow as well.

Success is a shared effort

Our work has meaning, and it’s visible. We're still a smaller company where no one can hide, and everyone is responsible for how well or poorly the company is doing. JC is a place where your effort and initiative won't go unnoticed. If you come up with a good idea that helps your colleagues or the company, you can bet you'll find others who are eager to join you. We love debating together, and anyone with the time and experience to contribute can jump in. Life at JC is incredibly diverse because of it. Many of us wear multiple hats; you can get involved in different projects or technologies if they interest you, whether you want to broaden your expertise or just step off the beaten track for a while.

I enjoy the variety of roles that life at JC offers. I’m not just boxed into delivery; I can develop people, get involved in sales or HR, and collaborate with the owners on evolving our bonus and compensation systems, fully utilizing my experience here.

Zdeněk Ubry, CEO

When people ask me why I don’t go abroad, I tell them I’ve found such a great company in the Czech Republic that I don’t even want to.

Filip Eichenmann, MS BI Engineer

We aim to be pioneers and test new trends. When a new technology emerges or someone publishes an article outlining a fresh approach, we jump in and experiment. We’ve set aside a specific budget and time to focus on these innovations. Once a week, we hold Knowledge Sharing meetings where people share technical presentations with one another. Every now and then, we add soft skills training – like how to handle a difficult client or improve business communication for example.

If this sounds interesting to you, don’t hesitate to reach out.

The best part of working with us will be the people you meet here

and of course, the projects, challenges, learning opportunities, strong know-how, and a bright future ahead

Tomáš Tuček, Co-Founder of JC at Culture Rocks

Tomáš Tuček is one of the co-founders and ex-CEO of Joyful Craftsmen. He and his two colleagues were inspired to start the company after reading The Clean Coder, deciding they wanted to build a company based on expert teams, where members are constantly learning and truly enjoy their work. Tomáš is deeply inspired by Baťa and his principles, which often influence the kind of company he aims to build. That’s why, at JC, you’ll find a focus on meaningfulness and common sense in everything we do.

I love the people and the culture; JC wouldn't be what it is without them. I feel a sense of psychological safety here. I know I can trust people, we have a laugh, and because everyone is so diverse, I learn something from everyone.

Dang The Trung, Data Engineer & Squad Leader

Joyful Craftsmen

You’ll find our office in the heart of Prague, just next to the Jindřišská street and Politických vězňů. We wanted our offices to be a comfortable place where Craftsmens can feel good throughout the day. The area is full of fantastic restaurants. The best part is our amazing terrace – a space where we can have lunch together, enjoy a coffee, hold meetings, play a game of table football, and occasionally fire up the grill. Oh, and we’ve got our own beer tap too!

A lot, and we mean a lot, of open communication

Communication is the foundation of our company culture. It’s key to creating an environment where everyone can be themselves and express their opinions. Once a month, we hold an all-hands meeting where Zdeněk and other leaders present the latest results, share updates, and reflect on what went well and what didn’t. We discuss projects, clients, and what’s planned for the coming months. Every opinion matters! We regularly gather feedback and actively work with it. Some might argue that we’d be more efficient if we talked less. We disagree. This open communication is what makes JC a friendly and authentic environment. Plus, the all-hands meeting is always a great opportunity to get together, have lunch at Kantýna, or grill something on the terrace.
